A day at Planète Sauvage

Set off on an extraordinary journey to discover wildlife. And you don't have to go to Tanzania to do it! Head for Port-Saint-Père, near Nantes, on an area of over 85 hectares that is home to more than 1,100 animals of 120 different species.

A little history

Located around 15 kilometres from Nantes, this zoo was opened in 1992.

Initially, the park focused on the safari concept, offering visitors the chance to discover wildlife in a semi-natural environment, similar to that found in Africa or Asia. Testers could then drive around the park in their own car to see the animals up close.

Today, Planète Sauvage has expanded its range of attractions and experiences:

• Exploring certain areas on foot
• Feeding the animals with the zookeepers
• Sleeping in the zoo...

Six themed worlds

The park is made up of 6 different zones.

• The Marine City

On foot, discover the world of bottlenose dolphins and learn more about their conservation.

• The Safari Trail

By car or bus, take a trip through one of Africa's great reserves. Over 10 kilometres, kangaroos, elephants and zebras accompany you on an unusual experience.

• Wildcat territory

Come face to face with the world's most magnificent felines: the tiger of Malaysia, the lion of Angola and the cheetah of South Africa. The route is on foot.

• The Inca Trail

You are now in South Africa, where you can walk at your own pace to discover alpacas, tapirs and different species of monkey.

• The Bush Trail

Walk from Kirikou's village to the island of Madagascar to admire meerkats and lemurs in the wild.

• The jungle temple

Change continent for Asia! From the suspension bridge, an incredible tribe of around a hundred macaques awaits you. The 15-metre-high tower offers a magnificent vantage point from which to observe the animals.
