La Loire à Vélo: 800km along the Loire
La Loire à Vélo is an incredible 800 km journey along the Loire. The wild river with its magnificent castles; the last of the Loire castles is the castle of the Dukes of Brittany, in the heart of Nantes. You will also appreciate its towns and villages of character. With a little luck, you might even see the Belem moored on the quays of the port of Nantes.
You will contemplate the vineyards of the Loire wines with the Sancerre, Chinon, Muscadet and its famous grape variety the Melon de Bourgogne. Gastronomy with fish in white butter; Nantes speciality. But also and above all the extraordinary wild nature with its flora and fauna; above all the countless bird species that take advantage of this preserved space to feed or reproduce.
Many stops are possible along the river and some cyclists enjoy the calm of the Best Western Atlantys Hotel for a well-deserved rest before the last stop that will take them to Saint-Brévin. After passing the nearby bac de Couëron, the road continues between the Loire and the Martinière canal, towards the coast and the Loire estuary!
